Legal Secretary – Private Client

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Private Client Legal Secretary to join our growing team. Main Responsibilities

  • Assisting with a full range of Private Client matters, including
  • Wills
  • Probation Administration
  • Court of Protection
  • Power of Attorney
  • Tax and Trusts
  • Dealing with clients over the telephone and face to face
  • Audio Typing using Olympus digital dictation
  • Dealing with inbound post to the department and time recording
  • Booking appointments and following up with clients for instructions
  • Opening new files on to Osprey case management system
  • Liaising with in HMRC and other financial institutions
  • Updating Estate Accounts
  • General departmental administration

About You

  • An active interest and obtain a thorough understanding of client requirements
  • Experience supporting more than one Fee Earner
  • Confident, clear and articulate communication skills both orally and in writing
  • A pleasant telephone manner and speaks clearly and fluently
  • Ability to work in a planned and organised way with the ability to multitask
  • Excellent IT Skills

Legal Business Administration Apprentice – Conveyancing

We are looking to recruit a Business Administration Apprentice to join us and provide first class support to our Property team.  We are a successful Law firm in the heart of Chelmsford and are looking to add to our growing team.  This role is an excellent opportunity to gain experience and qualification in business administration in the Legal sector.

Main Responsibilities

  • Working within a small team of conveyancing assistants
  • Dealing with clients over the telephone and face to face
  • Providing quotes to prospective clients using our online quote tool
  • Land Registry Direct system application forms
  • Opening files and proceeding with the initial stages of conveyancing transactions
  • File Closure
  • Building up a good rapport with Estate Agents and other parties

About You

  • Confident, clear and articulate communication skills both orally and in writing
  • Well presented, appropriate to a professional business environment
  • Pleasant telephone manner speaks clearly and fluently

Legal Accounts Apprentice

We are looking to recruit a Legal Accounts Apprentice to join us to assist our Legal Cashier and provide first class support to our Legal teams. We are a successful Law firm in the heart of Chelmsford and are looking to add to our growing team. This role is an excellent opportunity to gain experience and qualification in accounts administration in the Legal sector.

Main Responsibilities

In this role you will be working alongside our Legal Cashier whilst undertaking coursework via our chosen training provider. Your duties will include but not be limited to the following:-

• Posting entries onto Osprey our Case Management System
• Generating bills for all legal departments
• Banking
• Maintaining the purchase ledger
• Reconciliation of bank accounts
• General administration for the accounts department
• Filing
• Managing Petty Cash
• Dealing with bill queries
• File Closure

Person Specification:

• The ability to multi-task and be organised is imperative.
• Confident, clear and articulate communication skills both orally and in writing.
• Pleasant telephone manner speaks clearly and fluently.

Conveyancing Assistant – Residential Conveyancing

An opportunity has arisen for a Conveyancing Assistant within our very busy Conveyancing Department.  The ideal candidate will have substantial experience of residential conveyancing.  Some knowledge of new build would be useful but not essential.  You will be required to deliver assistance and administrative support together with a flexible and positive approach to working in a busy and demanding growing firm.

Main Responsibilities

  • Working within a small team of conveyancing assistants
  • Dealing with clients over the telephone and face to face
  • Providing quotes to prospective clients using our online quote tool
  • Land Registry Direct system application forms
  • Opening files and proceeding with the initial stages of conveyancing transactions
  • Completing Local Authority, Chancel and other relevant pre-exchange searches
  • Complete Stamp Duty Land Tax forms
  • Post-completion procedures
  • File Closure
  • Building up a good rapport with Estate Agents and other parties

About You

  • You take an active interest in and obtain a thorough understanding of client requirements
  • Previous experience of working within a conveyancing department carrying out residential conveyancing transactions
  • Experience supporting more than one Fee Earner

A new opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Conveyancer to join our highly reputable residential property team based in Chelmsford. The right candidate will have experience of residential property law, conveyancing and related matters. You will be working directly with Liz Searl and Catie Edwards (Directors) and their conveyancing team and support staff, a very experienced group who are passionate about helping each other develop and improve.

About the Role

  • You will deal effectively with clients and third parties over the telephone, in written correspondence and occasionally face to face, in order to provide advice and assistance
  • You will be responsible for chasing various documentation, ID, mortgage offers and searches
  • Proactive updates to the client regarding their transaction, contract checks, mortgage reports and search results checking, replying to freehold and leasehold enquiries
  • Dealing with freehold, leasehold, re-mortgages, transfer of equity, right to buy, shared ownership and new plot purchases
  • Dealing with the exchange of contracts and completion of purchases
  • Assist in growing the Backhouse business – working with the rest of the team to develop new opportunities and communicating our message to attract new clients. This will range from writing articles for the website and publications to attending business networking events and even speaking to a room full of people if you have the skill.
  • Working with the management team to decide on the future direction of the firm and getting involved with making it happen
