Commercial Property Solicitor

Backhouse Solicitors are a modern firm with a commercial approach.  A new opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Commercial Property Solicitor to join our busy and growing firm.  The ideal candidate will be 4 years + PQE and seeking genuine career progression.  In addition, you will be passionate about growing and developing our Commercial Property team.

  • Currently a  Solicitor with 4 years + PQE

About the Role

  • A varied caseload of sales and purchases of commercial property for our existing clients whilst establishing new client relationships within the local market.
  • Ability to lead and grow a successful commercial department.
  • Commercial Leases (acting for both Landlord and Tenant)
  • Surrendering and Assigning Leases (acting for both Landlord and Tenant)
  • Commercial Property Sales and Purchases
  • SIPP purchases with leasebacks
  • Option Agreements (acting for both Owner and Developer)
  • Residential Lease Extensions & Collective Enfranchisement

Junior Conveyancing Assistant – Residential Conveyancing

An opportunity has arisen for a Junior Conveyancing Assistant within our very busy Conveyancing Department.  The ideal candidate will have had some experience of residential conveyancing.  You will have a real interest and be willing to learn.  You will be required to deliver assistance and administrative support together with a flexible and positive approach to working in a busy and demanding growing firm.

Main Responsibilities

  • Working within a small team of conveyancing assistants
  • Working from a shared mailbox and being delegated tasks by the Senior Conveyancing Assistant.
  • Dealing with clients over the telephone and face to face
  • Providing quotes to prospective clients using our online quote tool
  • Opening files and proceeding with the initial stages of conveyancing transactions
  • Ensuring that new and existing files are compliant
  • Property searches.
  • Land Registry portal.
  • File Closures
  • Building up a good rapport with Estate Agents and other parties

About You

  • You take an active interest in and obtain a thorough understanding of client requirements
  • Confident, clear and articulate communication skills both orally and in writing
  • Well presented, appropriate to a professional business environment
  • Pleasant telephone manner speaks clearly and fluently
  • Ability to work in a planned and organised way with the ability to multitask
  • Monitors and maintains quality and productivity
  • Excellent IT Skills
  • Experience of using a case management system preferred but not essential
  • You gain job satisfaction from providing the highest level of client service
