Employment Law Advice for Employees

Are you an employee suffering discrimination at work, facing redundancy or needing a settlement agreement signing?  Maybe you’ve been asked to attend a disciplinary meeting and aren’t sure what to expect?

Whatever your employment law problem, we are here to help.

Our Approach

When you are experiencing employment problems at work, you may need to make difficult decisions that could affect your future career.  At Backhouse Solicitors we understand the importance of talking to a friendly and experienced professional who can give you the confidence to make the right choices.  We started out as a specialist employment law firm and every year our team help hundreds of people solve their workplace problems.

We can help you as soon as a problem arises and ideally before you talk to your employer.  After our first meeting, we are always on hand to provide practical advice and guidance on your case and can help you prepare for disciplinary hearings and if necessary represent you in an Employment Tribunal.  If you would rather negotiate a settlement with your employer than go to Tribunal then we will help you achieve the best possible financial result.

How much will it cost?

At Backhouse Solicitors we give you a clear estimate of how much our services will cost so you avoid any nasty surprises.  If the work proves more involved than expected, we will always tell you before charging more fees and you can decide whether to go ahead.

Depending on the details of your case, we may be able to agree a fixed fee in advance.

If you have Legal Expenses cover through one of your household or motor insurance policies, we can deal directly with your insurers to put cover in place. This can mean that your legal fees are paid in full.

Our Team of Expert Employment Lawyers

Our team has a successful track record of representing employees from all over the UK.  We have the experience and skills to help any employee in a business from shop floor worker to managing director.  Our experience also extends to dealing with Trade Unions and Insurance Companies, both of whom may be able to help fund your case.

What level of award could you receive?

From 6 April 2023 the Employment Tribunal can award employees up to £124,997 in unfair dismissal cases.  This consists of a basic award of up to £19,290, plus a compensatory award limited to the lower of £105,707 and one year’s pay.

There is no limit on the awards for discrimination cases and as an example, we have achieved awards for employees suffering age discrimination in excess of £150,000.
