A bit about the role

We’re looking for a motivated Commercial Property Solicitor (1-2 years + PQE) or an experienced Paralegal to join our dynamic and expanding team at Backhouse Solicitors. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your career with a progressive and supportive firm where your contribution will make a real difference.

You’ll handle a varied commercial property caseload, work closely with experienced colleagues, and play an active role in growing the department. The ideal candidate will be proactive, client-focused, and passionate about building long-term client relationships and contributing to the firm’s continued success.

Day-to-day responsibilities

  • A varied caseload of sales and purchases of commercial property for our existing clients whilst establishing new client relationships within the local market.
  • Commercial Leases (acting for both Landlord and Tenant)
  • Surrendering and Assigning Leases (acting for both Landlord and Tenant)
  • Commercial Property Sales and Purchases
  • SIPP purchases with leasebacks
  • Option Agreements (acting for both Owner and Developer)
  • Residential Lease Extensions & Collective Enfranchisement
  • Ability to support the growth of a successful commercial department
  • Working alongside the team to achieve monthly targets and KPIs
  • Growing the Backhouse business – working with the rest of the team to develop new opportunities and communicating our message to attract new clients

  • Currently a Solicitor of 1-2 years+ PQE or a Paralegal
  • Commercial property experience
  • Excellent communication skills – confident, clear, articulate and welcoming
  • You take pride in what you do and provide the highest level of client service
  • A hard worker who wants to develop their legal career and progress quickly
  • A team player

Hours: Monday – Friday 9am – 5.30pm
Location: Chelmsford or Leigh-On-Sea
