Employment Law – Common Questions Answered

Can I speak to a solicitor straight away?

We do work on an appointment system, but if your matter is urgent, we will try our utmost to get you an appointment on the day, provided there is a lawyer available. We will first need some basic details and then carry out a conflict check. From there, one of our experts will call you as soon as they are available. We take details to ensure we allocate your case to the correct person.

Why do I need to provide my address and personal details?

We are required by the Solicitors Regulations Authority to have specific details for each client. The information we ask for is only used for our client database, and we ensure it is kept confidential.

What happens if I don’t want to disclose my name and address?

Unfortunately, we are unable to book you an appointment or take you on as a client unless we have this information.

Can I have a meeting before I send my ID documents?

Of course, we will still be able to go ahead with the free 30-minute appointment; however, if you instruct us as your solicitors, we will require documents to carry out a verification check for money laundering purposes.

Why do I need to provide the opposing person or companies details?

We need these details to check our database to make sure there isn’t a conflict of interest before you provide any further information on your case. This information is completely confidential.

Should I see someone before a meeting with my employer or after?

We only offer one free 30-minute appointment, so it is your choice as to whether you would prefer to speak to someone before the meeting or afterwards.

Consider the current situation, for example;

  • If you have just been suspended and have no information, then it is worth waiting a few days to see if you receive a letter or information regarding the suspension
  • If you have been suspended and have heard nothing for a significant amount of time, make an appointment with one of our employment law experts
  • If you have a meeting with your employer coming up, probably best that you attend the meeting first and write down the information given at the meeting. It is important to try not to agree to anything, then give us a call to find out your options.

Do you offer Legal Aid or No Win No Fee?

Unfortunately, we do not offer legal aid or no win no fee. At our meeting, we will discuss other options so you can decide how you will fund your case. This includes privately paying your fees, the likelihood of your employers paying your legal fees and any legal expenses insurance that may be available to you.
