Backhouse Solicitors is a great place to work! I joined in 2018 when there was only 12 of us, there is now over 60! Despite the rapid growth, it still feels like the fun, family team it did when I started. Minal supported me in my career development, and since working at Backhouse, she has given me guidance and encouragement.

I joined Backhouse Solicitors in May 2021 as a solicitor but wanted to retrain in Private Client, having previously worked in personal injury for around 9 years, and have loved every minute of it! Backhouse Solicitors gave me the opportunity to explore a new legal sector and provided training, support and guidance along the way. In September 2024, I was promoted to Associate Solicitor. Backhouse Solicitors provides excellent career progression and is a place where you are rewarded for your hard work.

After weeks of work experience between 2017 and 2018, I formally joined Backhouse Solicitors in 2022 as a Legal Assistant, mainly working in the Commercial Conveyancing department and helping out in the Employment and Litigation teams.

In 2023 I was offered the opportunity to enrol on the Level 7 Solicitor Apprenticeship with BPP, which allows me to study towards an LLB (Hons) Law and Legal Practice degree and a solicitor qualification while continuing to work as an Apprentice Solicitor in the Commercial Conveyancing department. This allows me to study multiple areas of law while continuing to work in a more specific role.

There was only a handful of us in the Backhouse team when I joined in 2013, and I can honestly say it’s the best place I have ever worked. From the beginning, I have always felt valued and involved. One of the most rewarding parts of my journey so far has been watching the firm grow to over 65 people while still maintaining the same welcoming, down-to-earth, and supportive culture.

The management team are great, they are approachable and open, and I know I can rely on them for support and guidance if I need it. They actively encourage and welcome any new ideas to help improve the business and continue to expand and thrive, which makes working here inspiring and motivating. I joined Backhouse as a Legal Secretary and then worked my way up to a Property Paralegal and started my CLC training to become a Fee Earner.

With the rapid growth of the firm and the Conveyancing team, I moved into a managerial role. The firm has given me incredible opportunities for growth and advancement.

I love working in the Conveyancing department, ‘ The Dream Team’ as we like to call it, we all work together to get the job done and have fun doing it. A ‘typical day’ is never typical; every day is filled with new learning opportunities.
