Farleigh Hospice – Our Charity of the Year 2026

We are thrilled to share that our team has chosen to continue supporting Farleigh Hospice as our Charity of the Year 2026!

We’re excited to throw ourselves into an even bigger line-up of fundraising events throughout the year to raise money for such a great cause! By spreading awareness and getting more people involved, we hope to inspire others to support this fantastic charity alongside us.

Farleigh Hospice is a registered charity that was established in 1982 to provide hospice care to people affected by life-limiting illnesses and bereavement across mid-Essex. They provide a range of services tailored to meet an individual’s physical, emotional and psychological needs.

All the services offered by Farleigh Hospice are completely free of charge, and although they receive some funding from the NHS, it is not enough to cover the £6 million it costs each year to provide their services, and as such, they rely on the support and generosity of the community to help.

Throughout the year, the Backhouse team will be supporting Farleigh through a wide range of fundraising events such as quizzes, sponsored walks, bake sales (always popular!), the Backhouse tuck shop, dress down Fridays and more.

Backhouse Solicitors has been a regular participant in Farleigh’s annual “Make a Will” campaign, and we are pleased to be taking part again this year. We also offer free 30-minute consultations to new clients, giving them the opportunity to make a small donation to Farleigh in return for our time.

In addition, our team will continue to support Chelmsford Foodbank with food collections at Easter and Christmas, helping to bring a little extra comfort to families in need.
